TODAY’S TRADEMARK – NATIONAL SKI PATROL

The National Ski Patrol is recognized as a non-profit organisation and the largest winter education organization in the world. Its national office is located in Lakewood, Colorado and has staff of full-time employees that handle administrative duties. It derives its primary financial support from donations, membership dues, user fees and corporate sponsorships.

The National Ski Patrol (NSP) was founded in 1938 when Roger Langley, the president of the National Ski Association convinced the founder of the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol, Charles Dole to form a national ski patrol. With Langley’s assistance, Charles Dole formed the National Ski Patrol Committee of the National Ski Association. Since its establishment, it has followed its creed of “Service and Safety”.

The organization is composed of more than 30,000 patrollers who serve over 650 patrols. The members of the organization engage in the promotion of safety programs throughout the outdoor recreation community. The NSP had worked closely with other countries in Outdoor Emergency Care education and has helped in establishing patrol associations in Canada, New Zealand, Korea, Israel, Turkey, Argentina, Chile as well as Victorian Rescue Service in Australia.

The trademark “National Ski Patrol” was registered in USTPO bearing registration number 0960143 on May 29, 1973.
