TODAY’S TRADEMARK – MONTBLANC
Montblanc was founded in 1906 by a designer from Berlin, August Eberstein in partnership with Hamburg Banker, Alfred Nehemias. They started with a range of simple-to use fountain pens. Soon their company was taken over by three-people who set Montblanc on its journey to become a worldwide brand: Wilhelm Dziambor, Christian Lausen and Claus Johannes Voss.
In 1908, the company coined itself – “manufacturers of high-class gold and fountain pens”, a phrase that is till deeply integrated with the ethos of the company. In 1909, Montblanc name came to the fore. The famous Meisterstuck pen was launched in 1924 and the 149 Montblanc fountain pen model soon became a style icon of its time. In 1920s, Montblanc became an international brand, in over 60 countries. In 1980s, the company launched the precious metal version of the Meistertuck pens and coined the slogan “Montblanc-The Art of Writing”.
Montblanc partnered with UNICEF in 2004 to promote the significance of the written word. Nearly 149 celebrities worked on the campaign and the pens with celebrities signatures on them were auctioned off with all proceeds donated to UNICEF. Montblanc does not just specialise in writing instruments but also leather goods and luxury watches.
The trademark of “MONTBLANC” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 0776208 on September 01, 1964.
