TODAY’S TRADEMARK – LTU INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS
LTU INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS (LTU) was a German leisure airline headquartered in Düsseldorf. In May 1955, Lufttransport Union was established, and operations began in Frankfurt. LTU operated medium and long-haul routes and maintained hubs at Düsseldorf Airport, Munich Airport, and Berlin Tegel Airport. Over the years, LTU became one of the largest and most renowned German leisure airlines. It operated worldwide charter flights from several German airports, mainly from its traditional main hub at Düsseldorf.
The logo for LTU was registered with the EUIPO on July 17th, 2000, with the serial number 000925560. The mark is figurative and falls under classes 35, 39, and 42 of the international classification of goods and services for the purposes of the registration of marks. In 2007, Air Berlin acquired LTU. In 2008, Air Berlin announced that the trademark LTU would no longer be used. All flights were rebranded as Air Berlin.
