The Kansas City Chiefs KC are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division.
The Chiefs was founded by a businessman Lamar Hunt who was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) in 1960 by the name of Dallas Texans. In 1963, the team relocated in Kansas City and took its current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a part of the merger in 1970. Founder Lamar Hunt’s son, Clark serves as the chairman and CEO of the Chiefs.
The Chiefs were the second team after the Green Bay Packers, to appear in more than one Super Bowl and the first AFL team and the firs to appear in the championship games in tow different decades.
