Whirlpool, formally known as the Whirlpool Corporation is an American multinational manufacturer and marketer of home appliances. It is headquartered in Benton Charter Township, Michigan, United States.
The Corporation started in 1911 as a small company in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In 1950, The Nineteen Hundred Corporation was retitled as the Whirlpool Corporation. A year after, the philanthropic Whirlpool Foundation was established.
The Whirlpool Corporation markets Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir, Amana, Gladiator GarageWorks, Inglis, Estate, Ignis, Indesit, Brastemp, Bauknecht and Consul. In the United States, Whirlpool has nine manufacturing facilities.
The Corporation is a principal supporter of Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization dedicated to building affordable and low-cost housing. Whirlpool was the first appliance maker to feature same-sex families in their advertising in the United States. In 2020, the corporation reported approximately $19 billion in annual sales, 78,000 and 57 manufacturing and technology research centres.
