TODAY’S TRADEMARK – VOGUE

Vogue was initially an influential American fashion and lifestyle magazine. It was founded in the year 1892 by Arthur Baldwin Turnure as a weekly high-society journal for New York’s social elite. It covered news of the local social scene, social etiquette, traditions of high society. It also reviewed books, plays and music.

Conde Nast, the founder of popular Conde Nast Publications bought Vogue in 1909 and transformed it into an elite women’s fashion magazine focusing on beauty, composure and etiquette.

Vogue shortly became well-known for its distinctive photographs and high editorial quality. In 1932, Vogue became one of the first magazine to have a colour photo on its cover. Vogue redefined the look of female models, gender-neutral physiques and was first to picture an African American on its cover page.

Vogue has relished international success with publications around the globe. In 2009, the New York Times titled Vogue as a “high fashion’s bible”.

The trademark of “Vogue” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1336659 on May 21, 1985.
