The U.S News & World Report is an online newsmagazine published in Washington, D.C., from 1933. It publishes news, opinion, consumer advice, analysis and rankings The rankings of U.S. News & World Report of American colleges and universities are popular with the general public and influence application patterns.
The company is owned by U.S. News &World Report, L.P., a privately held entity based in the Daily News Building in New York City. In 1995, the company launched its website and in 2010 the magazine ceased printing. The company’s move to the website made it possible for U.S. News &World Report to expand its reach and service journalism with the introduction of several consumer-facing rankings products.
The first of the U.S. News & World Report’s popular rankings was its “Who Runs America?” surveys. The magazine would cover featuring persons selected by the USN &WR as being the ten most powerful persons in the United States. However, the survey got discontinued after 1986. Currently, it publishes ranking of all 50 U.S. states incorporating measures in seven categories: health care, crime and corrections, education, opportunity, economy, infrastructure and government.
The trademark of “U.S. News & World Report” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 0847644 on April 16, 1968.
