Today’s Trademark – THE NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF SPORTS
The National Museum of Sport (NAMOS) was a fine art museum. Its main focus was on sports, as the name suggests. The fear of competition, the excitement of victory, and the pain of loss are all captured in sport art. NAMOS had one of the most extensive collections of fine art portraying sport, as well as a busy exhibition schedule. More than 1,000 artifacts from more than 50 sports were on display at the museum. The museum had extensive archives and a library about sport art and its collection, in addition to its exhibits. The NAMO had a two-fold mission. The main focus was to boost the sports artist to produce sport art, and to collect, conserve, and share the best fine art depicting sport that it could acquire through exhibits. Exhibits, educational materials, and outreach services were used to accomplish this. In 2017, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis bought the museum’s collection after which NAMO stopped functioning. However, the collection is still displayed in the Children’s Museum till date.
