TODAY’S TRADEMARK – NIKE AIR

Nike Air is a line of footwear manufactured by Nike. It uses pressurized nitrogen encapsulated in sturdy but flexible bags called Nike Air sole units. These units are placed in the midsole under the forefoot, heel, or both to provide cushioning for the foot, making the shoes more comfortable and reducing the risk of injury. The technology was developed by Franklin Rudy, an aerospace engineer. In 1978, researchers at the University of Tennessee found that athletes running in Nike Air shoes actually used less energy than in conventional running shoes.
