Motorola, Inc. is an American manufacturer of electronic systems and wireless communications. It is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois. The company was founded in 1928 in Chicago by Paul Galvin and Joseph Galvin as the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. In 1943, the company went public for the first time and in 1947 it changed its name to Motorola Inc., which soon became a well-known brand name.
In 1977, Motorola introduced a handheld wireless telephone network through a system called “short-range cells”. It quickly became an international status symbol as well as proved to be useful personal communication device. In the 2000s, Motorola introduced smartphones running through Android.
In 2011, Motorola spit into two independent companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. In 2012, Google Inc. purchased Motorola mobility for $12.5 billion. Later in 214, Google sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo, a Chinese computer company for $ 2.91 billion retaining may of the company’s patents.
The trademark of “Motorola” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 0814700 on September 06, 1966.
