TODAY’S TRADEMARK – MINI COOPER

The original Mini Cooper was launched in the year 1959, designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and was introduced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC). The car was revolutionary in its design, featuring a transverse engine, front-wheel drive, and a compact body that maximized interior space. It was meant to be a small, affordable car that could accommodate four passengers.

The sportier version of it, known as the Mini Cooper, was developed in collaboration with John Cooper, a British racing car designer and manufacturer. The first Mini Cooper was launched in 1961, featuring a more powerful engine and various performance enhancements which quickly gained a reputation for its agility and fun-to-drive nature.

The Mini Cooper was trademarked on 13-10-2009 with the registration no. 3696191 for class 12 of the International classification and is currently owned by Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft. The Mini Cooper’s popularity soared in the 1960s, partly due to its success in various motorsport events.

Over the years, the Mini brand changed hands several times as the British Motor Corporation evolved into British Leyland, which later became the Rover Group. In the late 1990s, the Rover Group was acquired by BMW, a German automaker. The modern MINI relaunched by BMW retained much of the original car’s design charm while incorporating modern safety, technology, and performance features. The new MINI Cooper gained popularity for its blend of retro styling and contemporary features, attracting a new generation of fans.
