TODAY’S TRADEMARK – MEND
MEND’s programmes aim to meet people’s immediate needs and equip them to solve long-term issues. Most important are the Foodbank, Homeless Care Services, and Clothing Centres. Case-managed services are available through the Family Support and Pathways to Wellness Programmes. Most MEND clients are poor women. Food, clothing, and referrals to housing and mental health partners are provided by the Foodbank. Every year, the Clothing Centre provides essentials to thousands of homeless and low-income families.
Emergency Foodbank, which has a farmers’ market, teaches families how to cook healthy meals. Pathways to Wellness helps people with long-term illnesses and food insecurity. They do this by giving them one-on-one advice on healthy habits. The Family Support Programme coaches, plans, and finds resources for the most troubled. MEND also offers life skills workshops, 350 families’ wellness and mental health support groups, and 500 jobs each year.
