TODAY’S TRADEMARK – KODAK
The Eastman Kodak Company, colloquially known as “Kodak” is an American public company that produces various products associated to its historic basis in analogue photography. Kodak was founded in 1892 by George Eastman and Henry A. Strong. With the slogan “you press the button, we do the rest”, George Eastman launch the first simple camera into the hands of the people in 1888.
Kodak first sold its materials designed for the printing industry in 1912. In the 1950s and 1960s, Kodak helped in fuelling the colour revolution in books and magazines. During the most of 20th century, Kodak held a prominent position in photographic film.
However, in the late 1990’s, Kodak began to struggle financially, as a result of the decline in the sales of photographic and its limited expansion in moving to digital photography, despite developing the first self-contained digital camera. As a part of a inversion strategy, Kodak began to focus on digital photography and digital printing. It also attempted to generate its revenues with the help of aggressive patent litigation.
The trademark “Kodak” was registered in USTPO bearing registration number 0387692 on May 27, 1941.
