It was formed by Killer Kowalski in the year 1979. It was a professional wrestling promotion which held events from 1979 to 1996 in Northeastern United States. It was run by Killer Kowalski. It worked along with Kowalski’s famed wrestling school in Malden, Massachusetts. As per the words of John Callahan who was a former student of Kowalski, Kowalski’s argument with Angelo Savoldi led to formation of his own group. In 1982, the first championship titles were held and Kowalski was billed as the first IWF Heavyweight and The Executioners were billed as the Tag Team Champions. Former WWF stars like Demokition Ax, King Kong Bundy, Hercules, The Honky Tonk Man, The Mountie, Jake Roberts, Jimmy Snuka and Nikolai Volkoff were featured in IWF. Kowalski had a strong relationship with both Vince McMahon Sr. and his son Vince McMahon Jr.. His students (many of whom IWF stars) regularly appeared on World Wrestling Federation television as preliminary wrestlers during the 1980s and 90s
