TODAY’S TRADEMARK – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FISHING ASSOCIATION
The International Women’s Fishing Association was founded in 1955 to promote women’s fishing in an industry dominated primarily by men. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the most prestigious fishing clubs for women, setting standards for conservation and encouraging female angling competition. The IWFA established the IWFA Scholarship Trust to provide financial aid to marine science graduate students in order to further one of its chartered objectives, conservation. In 2004, the IWFA adopted the International Game Fish Association species list, allowing members all over the world to compete in their own backyards. Each year, the IWFA Tournament schedule includes three or more release tournaments, with members travelling to places like Louisiana, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Florida Keys to compete against their fellow female anglers. IWFA is proud to acclaim that they have over 100 combined weight and length record winners in their club.
