TODAY’S TRADEMARK – HENRY DUNAY
The influential jewellery designer Henry Dunay began his swift rise to success at just 14 years old, when he began serving as a jewellery apprentice for a master goldsmith in New York. He quickly developed his own talent and passion, working his way up the ranks to become a master model maker and setter in his own right. In 1956, at the remarkably young age of 21, Dunay started his own company and began designing and selling his own jewellery. He built a team of the world’s finest artisans and stone cutters to implement his designs. Dunay’s breakthrough came in 1967, when he won the first of three De Beers Diamonds International Awards for a carved gold, sapphire and diamond ring. The international recognition he gained from this exposure lead to a slew of commissions — including one for a gold chastity belt. He went on to win more than 50 international awards for his designs, including being chosen two times as “The Best of The Best Designer in the World” by The Robb Report Magazine.
