Garfield is a well-known fictional character. It is a fictional cat and the protagonist of the comic strip of the same name, created by Jim Davis. The comic strip named upon the character, centers on Garfiled, portrayed as a lazy, fat and cynical orange persian cat. He is noted for his love of lasagne and sleeping.
Garfield’s birthday is June 19, 1978, the day the first Garfield strip was published. Garfield was one of the numerous characters in the 1990s animated special “Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue”. In the first two Garfield films “Garfield: The Movie “ and “Garfield: A tail of Two Kitties”, Garfield was created using computer animation, thought the movies then were otherwise primarily live-action.
Garfield was license to the Dakin Company to make plush toys circa 1988. Garfield also has been a mascot of Kennywood, a traditional amusement park in Pennsylvania since the 1990s.
The trademark of “Garfield” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1151014 on April 14, 1981.
