TODAY’S TRADEMARK – G-SHOCK
The trademark of G-SHOCK is owned by Casio Keisanki Kabushiki Kaisha and was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 5511486 on July 10th, 2018
Casio, a Japanese electronics manufacturer, is in charge of the manufacturing of a series of watches known as the G-Shock. These watches are meant to resist mechanical stress, shock, and vibration. G-Shock is an acronym that stands for “gravitational shock.” The G-Shock series of watches is mainly intended for use in sports, military, and outdoor activities.
In 1981, Casio developer Kikuo Ibe invented the G-Shock after bumping into a pedestrian and breaking his father’s mechanical watch. G-Shock was designed to offer “triple 10” resistance: 10 years of battery life, 10 bar water resistance, and 10 meters of fall resistance.
The researchers examined over 200 prototypes but failed to meet conception requirements.
Every G-Shock watch contains a chronograph, alarm, and 200-meter water resistant. Each G-Shock watch may feature a digital, analog, or mixed display. Most models feature a backlight, world clock, and countdown timer. The latest high-end models have GPS, directional, pressure, and temperature sensors, radio-controlled time adjustment (WaveCeptor or Multi-Band), and Bluetooth time adjustment, which can be done by connecting the watch to a smartphone using a special app.
