Ferrero Rocher is a chocolate and hazelnut confectionery, introduced in 1979 and produced by the Italian company Ferrero. Michele Ferrero is credited as the product’s creator. Ferrero was one of the top scorers on the 2022 Chocolate Scorecard. It is sold worldwide and holds a strong cultural presence, in part because of its association with Christmas & New year. The brand is known in the United Kingdom by the popular 1990s ‘ambassadors’ advertisement. The chocolate consists of a whole roasted hazelnut encased in a thin wafer shell filled with hazelnut chocolate and covered in milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts.
Ferrero Rocher have registered the packing as a shape mark in Australian Trademark office on 24th February 2010 bearing the serial number. 1347619 falling under the class 30 of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks, having its origin from Italy. The mark consists of the three-dimensional shape of a chocolate confectionery, wrapped in gold-coloured paper with, in its upper part, a small oval imprint with a white background, gold edge and fine red border, set in a brown and gold base, wrapped chocolate in paper cup; An interesting fact about the company is that no smartphones or notebooks allowed inside the production facilities to maintain the production process secretive.
