Captain James Kirk, aka James Tiberius Kirk is a fictional character in the Star Trek Media franchise. Captain Kirk is a 23rd century Human Starfleet officer in Star Trek Series. The character was originally played by actor William Shatner. Captain Kirk first appeared in Star Trek: the Original Series serving the star ship USS Enterprise as captain.
Captain Kirk leads his crew as they explore new worlds and civilizations and the characters of Leonard McCoy and Spock act as his emotional and logical sounding boards respectively. Captain Kirk has appeared in numerous films, books, comics, web episodes and video games.
William Shatner continued in the role of Captain Kirk for three seasons of Star Trek and later provided the voice of the animated version of Captain kirk in “Star Trek: The Animated Series” (1973-74). Shatner returned to his character for “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” (1979) and in six subsequent movies. Chris Pine reprised the role of Captain Kirk in “Star Trek into Darkness” (2013) and in “Star Trek Beyond” (2016).
