TODAY’S TRADEMARK – BUCCELLATI
The company filed for trademark with the USPTO on March 4, 1969 and was assigned registration number 865932. Their mark was first used in 1952.
The Italian watch and jewellery company Buccellati Holding Italia was established by the amalgamation of two earlier businesses that carried the Mario and Gianmaria labels, which matched the surnames and names of two father-and-son master goldsmiths.
Mario Buccellati founded his business in 1919 and expanded it worldwide by adding stores in Milan, Rome, and Florence before starting a new store on Fifth Avenue in New York in 1954 and another on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida in 1958.
Mario, Gianmaria, and his son Andrea have all demonstrated a flair for creativity coupled with a passion for design, continuing the family legacy of resurrecting stones, materials, and processes that were close to going extinct. Therefore, with its rich history spanning over a century, the Buccellati style is one of art jewellery.
Following Mario’s passing in 1965, four of his five sons oversaw the company’s administration. One of Mario’s sons introduced the new brand Gianmaria Buccellati in 1971. He established a business apart from his brothers and, in 2011, reached a deal with his family for the name Buccellati, which subsequently became Buccellati Holding Italia, reorganising the business.
