The Company DENTSPLY SIRONA INC. filed for the Trademark ‘BOBCAT’ for dental apparatus used by professionals to clean teeth with the USPTO on March 26, 1991 and was assigned registration number 1638991. The mark has been in use since 1st July, 1989.
Dentsply was founded by four New York businessmen in 1899 as Dentists’ Supply Company. The American company Dentsply Sirona produces dental consumables and equipment and sells them in more than 120 nations. It operates plants throughout 21 nations. In its capacity as an equipment manufacturer, it creates and produces specialty and laboratory dental supply goods. In terms of consumables, its areas of expertise are tooth polishers, anaesthetics, and prevention (prophylaxis) of gum disease and plaque. It creates and builds artificial teeth as well. It has also been mentioned as a major player in the market for future intraoral flat panel sensors.
George H. Whiteley, one of the company’s four founders, rose to prominence as its principal operator thanks to his background as a ceramicist. Whiteley was the driving force behind numerous inventions that the company benefited much from, including a patented procedure using platinum rings that decreased tooth fracture. Additional developments included age-specific tooth colour and better-fitting dentures, which were attributed to doctors like James Williams who were employed by the business for research purposes.
The corporation co-sponsored the Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its Application (SCADA) in 2019 in collaboration with the American Association for Dental Research (AADR). Students’ research is to be supported by the SCADA.
