TODAY’S TRADEMARK – BETTY CROCKER

Washburn-Crosby and advertiser Bruce Barton created Betty Crocker in the year 1921.  Under the supervision of Marjorie Husted, the image of Betty Crocker became the “Zeus” of General Mills. Washburn Crosby merged with other milling companies in the year 1928. The merger took place to form General Mills. It is a brand and fictional character which is popularly used in advertising campaigns pertaining to food and recipes. The red spoon logo was branded by General Mills, an American Fortune 500 corporation. It gave approval to various food-related merchandise to use the Betty seal.  In the year 1936, a portrait of Betty Crocker, first commissioned.  It was revised various times.. On television and radio broadcasts, Betty Crocker was portrayed by several actresses, on radio by Marjorie Husted for twenty years, and on television by Adelaide Hawley Cumming between 1949 and 1964. The trademark of this company was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1654991 on August 27, 1991.
