TODAY’S TRADEMARK – RED SUNSET
The Company J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. filed for the trademark ‘RED SUNSET’ for nursery stock, and particularly maple trees, with the USPTO on March 11, 1969. The Company was assigned registration number 865972. They have been using the trademark since 27th January, 1966.
Their nursery is well-known all over the world as a top supplier of flowering, decorative, and shade deciduous trees. The company has its roots in Oregon, dubbed “The Nursery State,” where it grows over 500 different types and cultivars of deciduous trees. Being the only nurseries that have brought more than 100 new tree cultivars to the market through research and development, they have been “Growing New Ideas” since 1946.
They harvest and ship around 1.5 million trees annually. Most of their deciduous trees are harvested bare root in the winter while they are dormant. After being graded and stored, they are transported to nurseries across the United States and Canada on refrigerated trucks.
Their clients may plant them in containers for sale to nearby garden centres, landscape contractors, and other tree planters, or they may arrange them in their fields for growth to sizes suitable for landscaping. They grow some of their bare root trees in pots and sell them to landscape companies, garden retailers, and landscape distribution centres.
