TODAY’S TRADEMARK – HANCOCK’S PRESIDENT’S RESERVE
The Company Age International Inc. doing business as Blanton’s filed for the trademark “Hancock’s President’s Reserve” for alcoholic beverages, namely Bourbon whiskey, with the USPTO on March 5, 2002. They were assigned with registration number 2543749. They used this mark first on 12th March,1996.
Blanton’s introduced Single Barrel Bourbon in 1984. Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee was getting close to retirement, and his mission was to produce an extraordinarily fine bourbon. He thought back carefully to the early years of his career, working with Colonel Albert B. Blanton in the late 1940s. Elmer T. Lee named this new bourbon “Blanton’s Single Barrel” in honour of Colonel Blanton.
A year before he retired, Elmer T. Lee gave the world its first taste of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon. By introducing the world’s first single barrel bourbon and so transforming the business, he created the “super premium” category of whiskey.
Although most distilleries now provide one or more single barrel bottlings, Blanton’s was the first and is still regarded as the best available.
