Black Sabbath is a pioneering British rock band formed in 1968 in Birmingham, England. It is widely regarded as a crucial catalyst in the creation of heavy metal music. The original lineup consisted of Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums). Originally named Earth, the band adopted the name Black Sabbath inspired by a horror film.
Their debut album, released in 1970, is often hailed as the birth of heavy metal, showcasing dark themes and heavy guitar riffs. The album’s success paved the way for subsequent releases. They achieved remarkable success with albums like “Paranoid” (1970), “Master of Reality” (1971), and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” (1973), establishing their signature heavy sound and occult-inspired lyrics. Ozzy Osbourne’s departure in 1979 due to personal issues led to Ronnie James Dio stepping in as lead vocalist, resulting in albums like “Heaven and Hell” (1980) and “Mob Rules” (1981).
The mark is registered for phonograph records, compact discs and pre recorded audio tapes under class 9 of the IC. Registration is also for class 25 pertaining to clothing. The mark was registered on 31-10-2000 with the registration no. 2399391. Further changes in personnel occurred over the years, with various vocalists and musicians joining and leaving.
The original lineup reunited in 1997 for live shows. Their influence on heavy metal remained undeniable, and in 2016, Black Sabbath embarked on “The End” tour, marking their supposed final tour. The band’s legacy extends beyond their active years.
