TRADEMARK OF THE WEEK – SCHICK

Schick is nearly a 100 year old American brand for personal care products that has been in the business of making razors for a very long time. U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Schick invented the Magazine Repeating Razor in 1921. This Type A razor went into production in 1926which is still kept alive in spirit and innovation by constantly bringing advancements in the product by not just personalizing it but also making it easy to use. Schick was the first company to bring to the market stainless steel blades which were coated in Teflon and were also the originals to successfully deposit a thin layer of chromium onto the blade which made the blades more durable to use.

First commercial use of the Schick razor is claimed to be 31-12-1990 according to the USPTO and was registered on 01-10-1993 with the Registration number 1796254. In 2003 Schick was purchased by Energizer which split into two and Schick became a subsidiary of Edgewell Personal Care dealing in disposable razors, disposable safety razors, and razor blades as registered under class 8 of International Trademark Class. The mark can be described as Letters or words underlined and/or overlined by one or more strokes or lines.
