TRADEMARK OF THE WEEK – VERNEY-CARRON

VERNEY-CARRON is a French firearm manufacturing company that was founded in 1820 by gunmaker Claude Verney. It is based in Saint-Etienne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and produces a wide variety of hunting shotguns and rifles. In 2004, VERNEY-CARRON purchased the traditional artisan gun-making company Demas, forming the L’Atelier Verney-Carron brand of antique firearms.

VERNEY-CARRON registered a figurative trademark with the EUIPO bearing the serial number 453845, on 8th July 1980. The mark falls under class 13 of the international classification of goods and services for the purposes of the registration of marks. Since 1990, VERNEY-CARRON has been manufacturing defensive weapons called “Flash-Ball”, which have been adopted by several police and law enforcement agencies. In 1999, the company started manufacturing a new version of the Flash-Ball called the “Super Pro”, intended for the security sector, which has become an integral part of the weapons arsenal for the French National Police.
