TODAY’S TRADEMARK – LG DISPLAY
LG Display is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and supplier of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display panels, OLEDs and flexible displays and is a subsidiary of the LG corporation. LG Display is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and currently operates in Korea, China, Poland and Mexico. LG Display was originally formed as a joint venture by the Korean electronics company LG Electronics and the Dutch company Philips in 1999 to manufacture active-matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and was formerly known as LG. Philips LCD.
The mark “LG Display” has been registered in Singapore trademark office bearing the serial number. T1105624D on 18th February 2011, as a combination mark having its origin from south Korea. There is a figurative element (A face structure) in its logo which indeed falls under the class 9 of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks. It is concurrently listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the South Korean Stock Exchange.
They are one of the main licensed manufacturers of the more colour accurate IPS panels used by Dell, NEC, ASUS, Apple (including iMacs, iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches) and others, but unfortunately LG had to wind-up and shutdown it the mobile manufacturing units and quit the smartphone market, nevertheless helps the company expand & concentrate in display manufacturing market phase.
