TODAY’S TRADEMARK – BIMBO
The “Bimbo” mark was registered on 1 January, 1960 by the Grupo Bimbo Company in the Mexican trademark office bearing registration number 99047.
Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. de C.V., also known as Bimbo, is a multinational corporation based in Mexico with operations in over 33 nations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The company Grupo Bimbo SA de CV produces, sells, and distributes baked goods. It sells tortillas, pre-packaged items, fresh and frozen slices of bread, buns, cookies, snack cakes, English muffins, bagels, and sweets.
Between a number of contenders, including PanRex and Pan NSE, the name “Bimbo” was selected. The name was created by combining the titles of Lorenzo Servitje’s daughter Marinela’s two favourite movies, Bambi and Dumbo. Grupo Bimbo strengthened its position as the largest bakery firm in the world during this decade by buying a number of businesses, notably Sara Lee North American Fresh Bakery in the United States.
