The Western Sugar Company was founded in the early 20th Century by Charles Boettcher and partners, pioneering the sugar beet industry in Northern Colorado. The Western Sugar is fully vertically integrated from the farm to the table as the grower and owners raise and process sugar beets into sugar for delivery to consumers and food customers. The cooperation constitutes several generation sugar beet growers and thereby the company is united to form by over 1,000 sugar beet growers in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. Cooperative constitutes 850 growers along with them shareholders having a history in beet sugar. The cooperative plants up to 1,34,140 acres of sugar beets and thereby produces over 10 million cwts. of locally grown sugar every year. The sugar processing facilities of the cooperative are operating in Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Lovell and Torrington, Wyoming; Billings, Montana; and Fort Morgan, Colorado. The Western Sugar Company have their storages facilities which are located and operate in Rocky Ford, Sterling, and Longmont, Colorado; and in Bayard, Gering, and Mitchell, Nebraska. The company is fully equipped with hardworking people as well as specialized equipment and fully irrigated land to produce the best quality beet crop to the market and this is attributed to the reputation and prestige owned by the Western Sugar Company.
