TODAY’S TRADEMARK – TIDE
Tide, aka Tide Laundry detergent is manufactured by Procter & Gamble (P&G). Tide has been a part of American culture since 1946.
Tide was introduced as the first heavy-duty laundry detergent in the United States. Its distinctive orange and yellow bull’s eye trademark was designed by Donald Deskey, an architect and famous industrial designer. Tide was the first product to be packaged for national sales using such bright colours, making the box strikingly eye-catching and memorable.
After liquid detergents became popular in Europe and Japan, P&G launched varied range of products such as their first liquid detergent “Era”, Tide with Bleach. Ultra Tide, Ultra Liquid Tide. Tide Clean Rinse, Ride Rapid Action Tablets, Tide with a Touch of Downy, Tide with Febreze, Tide Vivid White, Tide To Go and many more. Tide was the first compact powdered detergent brand in the United States.
Tide remains as a strong brand and product development continues daily at P&G Research & Development (R&D) centres.
The trademark of “Tide” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1063680 on April 19, 1977.
