TRADEMARK OF THE WEEK – MISS ALABAMA
The Miss Alabama is a pageant competition that selects representative for the U.S. State of Alabama in the annual Miss America Competition. The title of Miss Montgomery was initially a separate competition whose winner competed at Miss America from 1937-1940. Later, Miss Montgomery later competed as a local titleholder in Miss Alabama.
The title of Miss Mobile was also initially a separate competition whose winner competed at Miss America in 1926. The Miss Mobile later competed as a local titleholder in Miss Alabama. In 1936, 1946 and 1948, two winners were crowned in Miss Alabama and both competed at Miss America. The current system in use allows only the winners the winners of local competitions to compete in Miss Alabama with no at-large candidates in the competition.
The trademark of “Miss Alabama” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 0695841 on April 5, 1960.
