The founder, Alfred Dronge opened a music store called Sagman & Dronge in 1945 with partner Barney Sagman, located on 130 Park Rowe in New York City. A couple years later, Alfred bought out his partner and changes the business’ name to Alfred Dronge Music. In 1952, Alfred Dronge registered Guild Guitar Company after associating with George Mann, ex-Vice President of Epiphone Company.
