Madison Square Garden, colloquially known by its initials, MSG, is a multipurpose indoor arena in New York City. The original Madison Square Garden of 1874, was a converted railroad station at Madison Square. In 1925, a new Madison Square Garden was built at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street. The present arena, was opened in 1968 at Eighth Avenue and 33rd Street, consisting of 20,000 seat arena for circuses, conventions, ice shows as well as sports events, a 5000- seat forum, a sports hall of fame and gallery of sports art.
Madison Square Garden hosts around 320 events a year. It is the home to the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, NBA Draft, NIT Season Tip-Off, WWE and other Wrestle Mania events . MSG hosts most high-profile concert events than any other venue in the entire New York City.
