Jughead Jones real name is Forsythe Pendleton Jones III. He is a fictional character created by Bob Montana and John L. Goldwater in Archie Comics. Jughead is the drummer and the best friend of vocalist/guitarist Archie Andrews. He is the son of Forsythe Pendleton Jones II who was in one of the early Archie newspaper comic strips. He is seen as lazy, with food and generally uninterested in girls. He can be identified with his half-closed eyes, long nose, “S” sweatshirt and crown like beanie hat.

Bob Montana stated that the character of Jughead was a character he imagines unlike other characters which were based on the people he knew. Montana’s widow stated that the mysterious “S” on Jughead’s sweatshirt refers to a location called Skunk Hill in Massachusetts. She stated that “S” stands for “Squirrel Hill Independent Tigers” which was founded by Montana.

The trademark of “Jughead” was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1791599 on September 07, 1993.
