FuncoLand was specialized in selling new and used video game software. It was an American video game retailer based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The parent company of this brand is Funco Inc. It was established in the year 1988 in the home of David R. Pomije. Initially, it was a leaser of video games to Minneapolis–Saint Paul video rental shops. Gradually, it started as a mail-order business specializing in using video games. The venture got success. After the success of this business, Pomije decided to shift the business to the Minneapolis warehouse. After the decision, he began opening retail outlets all over the world. Funco was acquired by Barnes & Noble In May 2000. It was acquired for $161.5 million. In the year of December 2000, it was merged with its subsidiary Babbage’s to form GameStop. It is considered the first video game retailer to allow consumers to sell and trade used video games.
