TODAY’S TRADEMARK – SANSUI
Sansui, formally known as Sansui Electric Co., Ltd is a Japanese manufacturer of electrical appliances. The company was founded in 1947 in Tokyo by Kosaku Kikuchi, who worked for a radio parts distributor in Tokyo before World War II.
In 1958, Sansui introduced the first stereo tube Pre- and Main Amplifiers. By the 1960’s, Sansui became recognized manufacturer of audio components and began to sell in foreign markets. But as the mid-1980s arrived, Sansui’s sales were lost to its competitors namely, Sony, Pioneer, Matsushita’s Technics, etc. Sansui began losing its visibility in the market of United States around 1988. It then focused on manufacturing high-end components like high-end television sets and other video equipment but ceased their exportation.
In 2019, Sansui made a fresh attempt to crack into the Indian market in categories such as home audio, LED televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, small kitchen appliances and split air-conditioners.
The trademark “Sansui” was registered in USTPO bearing registration number 1489967 on May 31, 1988.
