TODAY’S TRADEMARK – MISS UNIVERSE
Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is organized by Miss Universe Organization. It is one of the most well-known beauty pageants in the world which has estimated audience of over 500 million viewers all over 190 countries. The pageant promotes “humanitarian issues and is a voice to affect positive change in the world”.
Miss Universe pageant was founded by Pacific Knitting Mills, in 1952, which was a clothing company in California and manufacturer of Catlina Swimwear. The first Miss Universe pageant was won by Armi Kuusela from Finland. The pageant was first broadcasted on television in 1955. In the initial years, the contestants were judged in evening gown and in swimsuit only. They are also judged based on variety of parameters that vary from posture at events, interviews to the presence of contestants on social media. The summit of the Miss Universe Pageant is held each year in a different international city, where semi-finals and finals take place.
