Today’s Trademark – AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS
James Cloonan, Ph.D., founded the organisation in 1978. The American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) is a non-profit organisation of approximately 150,000 members whose mission is to inform individual investors about stock market portfolios, financial planning, and retirement accounts. Through education, intelligence, and research programmes, AAII “assists individuals in becoming effective managers of their own properties.”
Because of its non-profit status, the company promotes itself as an impartial source of investment knowledge. AAII members have posted “investment returns that are consistently higher than those of the stock market as a whole” over the last thirty years (using the S&P 500 as reference). Since 2003, AAII has held two real portfolios for educational purposes: a shadow market portfolio and a mutual fund portfolio. The returns and contents of these portfolios are available online, and the site claims that they have outperformed the market significantly over the course of their lifetime. The organization’s primary website for instructional materials is AAII.com.
The trademark of this company was registered in USPTO bearing registration number 1481952 on March 22, 1988.
