Kentucky Derby is a horse race which is also referred as ‘The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports’ or ‘The Fastest two minutes in Sports’ is a Grade 1 stake race competition for three year old Thoroghbred at a distance of one and a quarter mile at Churchill Down. It is mostly held on 1st Saturday in May capping the 2 week long Kentucky Derby Festival.
Since 2002 the Kentucky Derby Logo has been designed by Norman Adams. Till 2000, the race was held uninterrupted for 144 years but due to Covid pandemic, the race was rescheduled to September 2020. The fastest time ever run in the Derby was 1.59.4 minutes in the year 1973. The first live radio broadcast of the Kentucky Derby which was organized on May 16, 1925 was aired on WHAS and WGN In Chicago. The Kentucky Derby was covered by the national television for the first time on May 3, 1952 and was aired from then CBS affiliate WHAS-TV. The 147th Kentucky Derby is scheduled to be held on May 1, 2021 which will be broadcasted on NCB.
