Wichita Festivals was first established as a non-profit corporation in the State of Kansas in the year 1971. The organization consists of nine full-time employees and is managed by 15 member board of directors who hold the office for three years. The organisation first held its festival in the year 1972 for 2 days. Eventually the name of the festival was changed to Wichita River Festival in the year 1974. In 21^st Century, events like Chili, Barbeque Cookoff and Wichita Flight Festival was also produced by WFI. The organization also contributed to the community celebration of the U.S bicentennial. The popular Autumn & Art at Bradley Fair was also introduced by WFI in the year 2010.
